Overview or Overture?
I can still remember the day I wrote Moonchild. Dave had come up with a neat rift on the drums and everyone was trying to add value, so I sent them out of the room for a coffee and five minutes later it was done. Some songs just fall out of the sky like that and the rest is history.
Everyone has there own interpretation of Moonchild, it has taken on so many variables in people's mind. Places they have been, people they have known, loves gained - loves lost. But for me, the writer - it will always be the inevitable consequence of unrequited love.
Whether in the labyrinths we weave or anywhere fantastical - the song's haunting legacy will live on. It can never die and neither can the rest of the tracks that made up the adventure of what was our first album.
I will never forget the moment I realised I was actually sitting next to Imagination's ampex 499 tapes while watching Moonchild go down.
What a rush!
